About us

Whisky Wagon was born from a simple idea: whisky shouldn’t feel like a secret handshake.

We think it’s better with mud on your boots than velvet ropes at the door — and it’s for everyone, not just the lads at the bar.

Our mission is to make whisky more accessible, less intimidating, and a lot more human. We tell the stories of the people who make it, drink it, sell it — and even build the tech and products that

orbit it.

You won’t find tasting notes that sound like homework here. We care about people notes — the characters, craft, and conversations that make whisky culture so alive.

Founded by Scott McKenzie, a former award-winning international journalist (CNN, ABC News, News Corp, South China Morning Post, Billboard), Whisky Wagon blends his background in storytelling and data-driven insight. Through his other venture, Mischief Maker, Scott helps companies turn data into stories; through Whisky Wagon, he’s turning drams into them.

This is whisky with a heartbeat — and a steering wheel.

We think whisky tastes better with mud on your boots. Whisky Wagon doesn’t do velvet ropes or tasting notes that sound like homework. We travel Scotland in our old Land Rover to share stories from the road — the people, the drams, and the bonkers ideas.

People

We’re taking whisky off-road. Meet the wild women shaking up Scotland’s distilleries, chat with old men who smell suspiciously of peat smoke, and finally figure out why some whisky names look like a Scrabble accident.
